interEDGE is born out of a combination of an unmet need and passion of two former international students, Di Hu, from China, and Rahul Choudaha, from India. They both graduated from American universities and succeeded in not only finding jobs in a tough economic climate but progressed to hold leaderships roles in their organizations. With interEDGE, Di and Rahul, want to pay forward and help many more international students succeed.

Di Hu, Principal Coach and Co-founder, brings over a decade of experience as an intercultural trainer. She has led programs and worked with hundreds of individuals who strive to perform at their best in cross-cultural settings. Her use of experiential learning and reflective tools during the training process effectively support individuals to strive and yield the best outcome in an unfamiliar and challenging environment.

Di is a trained Co-Active(c) coach from the Coach Training Institute. She combines her cross-cultural training practice with coaching and focuses on career success and life fulfillment for international students and expatriate professionals. She is a regular contributor to Forbes.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in English education and a master’s degree in psycholinguistics, Di worked in China for five years as Country Manager of an American non-profit. When she graduated with her second master’s degree in International Development from American University, the recession still had its lingering effect and the job market was tight. She landed a job at the National Committee on US-China Relations where she was responsible for program design and delivery of Fulbright cultural exchange programs. More recently, as the Director of International Operations and Institutional Relations at Global Volunteers, she led a global team to manage international service programs in nine countries and oversaw the training and management of over 500 individual volunteers annually.

Dr. Rahul Choudaha, Principal Coach, Co-founder, and CEO, brings over a decade of experience as an international educator. Choudaha researches, speaks, writes, and consults on international student trends. He is a regular contributor to ForbesHuffington Post and University World News. He has chaired or presented over 100 sessions at professional conferences and has been quoted in global media including the BBC, Time, NPR and The Wall Street Journal. Choudaha received the Tony Adams Award for Excellence from the European Association of International Education in recognition of his research on international student segments. He was also the principal investigator of the NAFSA’s national research report on improving international student experiences.

As an adjunct faculty, he has taught graduate courses in International Higher Education at New York University and Baruch College. He served as the Chair of International Education Leadership Knowledge Community at NAFSA, a membership organization of 10,000 international educators. Choudaha is also a member of the Board of Directors of InterExchange, a nonprofit organization promoting cross-cultural awareness through exchange programs.

After gaining a bachelor’s degree in engineering and master’s in business in India, he came to the U.S. to pursue a doctorate in higher education at the University of Denver. He graduated during one of the most severe economic recession in the American history. However, he still succeeded in receiving a job offer from World Education Services (WES) in New York, where he worked for over seven years. As the Chief Knowledge Officer and Senior Director of Strategic Development, he raised organization profile, built research capabilities, deepened institutional relationships and launched innovative services.

The Board members are experienced professionals who provide relevant expertise and advice in shaping strategic directions of interEDGE so that our offerings are in line with the needs of students, employers and institutions. Members bring diverse perspectives regarding their demographic, educational and professional backgrounds.

John Arboleda

Founder & Chief Engagement Officer, NOYO Global Engagement

John Arboleda is founder/CEO at NOYO Global Engagement, an innovative global education consultancy that helps universities bridge the gap between the classroom and the boardroom. During two decades of international experience in higher education, John has held various leadership positions across the student lifecycle allowing him to understand the realities of students, alumni, staff, faculty and employers. Previous employers include the University of California Office of the President, Mt. San Antonio Community College, Goethe University Frankfurt and ESADE Business School. John serves on the UCLA Alumni Association Board of Directors, and recently completed a two-year appointment serving on the CASE Europe Annual Planning Committee (2013-2015). John is a graduate of University California at Los Angeles and the Coro Fellows Program in Leadership & Public Affairs.

Krishna Bista, PhD

Assistant Professor of Education, School of Education, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, USA.

Dr. Bista’s areas of interest include international student studies, multicultural education, and leadership practices. He is founder/editor of the Journal of International Students, a quarterly publication in international higher education. He is also associate editor of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education. His recent publications appear in the Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, International Journal of Doctoral Studies, College Teaching, and The Educational Forum. Dr. Bista is an active review board member of several academic publications including Kappa Delta Pi Record (Routledge), Sociology Compass (Wiley), International Journal of Leadership in Education (Routledge), Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies (Sage), Journal of International Education Management (Emerald), Journal of Research in Education (EERA), and Current Issues in Education (ASU).

Brian J. Elizardi

Director of Alumni Engagement, University of Denver

As an accomplished higher education leader, Brian has a strong portfolio of successes orchestrating the start-up, growth, and optimization of diverse teams within alumni engagement, career services, and enrollment management. Brian values using his management and leadership style to serve the higher purpose of achieving noble and socially significant goals. He holds an MA in Higher Education Administration and a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Denver. He lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife Mia and their two kids, Sofie and Henry.

Michael Elliott, PhD

Director of International Student and Scholar Services, the University at Albany-SUNY

At SUNY Albany, Dr. Elliott oversees office operations, services, and programs for the international population, including degree seeking international students, exchange students, scholars, and dependents. His previous leadership positions include University of North Carolina Greensboro-ISSS and University of Denver-ISSS.

Dr. Elliott’s primary areas of practitioner-scholar focus include student success from a strengths-based perspective and faculty engagement in international programs. His Ph.D. dissertation research concentrated on assets of international students in college adjustment while his practice over the last several years has emphasized mentoring, coaching and Appreciative Education among other student development and success related models. He is the co-author of From Departing to Achieving: Keys to Success for International Students in US Colleges and Universities, and numerous international education related articles. Dr. Elliott earned his doctorate from North Carolina A&T State University, his MA and MEd degrees from Ohio University, and his bachelor’s from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Heather Frank

Recruiting Coordinator, LinkedIn

Heather currently supports the Technical Recruiting team to bring top talent to the company. Before joining LinkedIn, Heather worked in the field of International Education for six years in Switzerland, Taiwan, China, and the U.S. Her work experience spans from recruiting high school and university students in Asia for cultural exchange programs in the U.S. and Europe, to managing programs and events for international students and scholars new to the San Francisco Bay Area. Heather has held positions at IIE for WeTech and Foreign Fulbright, Intrax Taipei, AYUSA Beijing, and UCSF’s International Students and Scholars Office. Heather has an MA in International Education Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, a BA in International Management from Franklin University Switzerland, and is an advanced Mandarin speaker through work and study abroad, including a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship.

Dan Harris

Business Initiatives Manager & Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo

Dan Harris is responsible for strategic planning, thought leadership, critical analysis, and training for the national Wells Fargo Philanthropic Services team. He leads the group’s thought leadership initiative developing workshops, tools, white papers, and webinars to help families, nonprofit organizations, and others to maximize the impact of their philanthropic initiatives. Dan has over 25 years of financial markets and nonprofit experience, including positions in the United States, Japan, and Germany. Previous roles include sales management and coaching, institutional and retail sales, and investment management. He holds a BA in economics from McGill University in Montreal and an MBA in finance from The University of Texas McCombs School of Business. Dan has served on the boards of many nonprofit organizations in Colorado, and is especially passionate about market-based solutions to global poverty. Dan is a frequent speaker on gift planning and philanthropy.

Trang Le-Chan

Director of the Professional Development Center, New York City College of Technology

Trang Le-Chan has years of experience in the nonprofit, higher education, and health sectors. As the Director of the Professional Development Center, she‘s the connector between the College and the professional world through the development of academic and career-oriented programs. Before joining City Tech, she served as the Associate Director of the Offices of Career Services and Experiential Learning at Metropolitan College of New York.

Trang received her Masters of Social Work in Administration and Social Policy from The University of Pennsylvania and her Bachelors of Science in Human Development from Binghamton University, SUNY. She is an alumni of the Immigrant Civic Leadership Certificate Program at the CORO New York Leadership Center, the Middle Management Program for Youth Service Organization Certificate Program at Columbia University Business School, and the Mentoring Supervisor Certificate Program from the Center for Training and Professional Development at Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York and Fordham University. Her certifications include the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), Strong Interest Inventory (SII), Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Step I & II (MBTI) and Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI).

Devika Milner

Director of Study Abroad Office, University of Miami (UM)

Devika oversees academic programs abroad and management of UM’s international cooperative agreements. Prior to this role, she worked in the UM Division of Undergraduate Education in the Office of the Provost. She was Associate Director of Graduate and International Admissions at Fairleigh Dickinson University in NJ.

She has worked in the corporate sector and the non-profit industry, including an international think tank in New York City. Devika is an evaluator for the US State Department Critical Language Scholarship program, a member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, AIEA: Association of International Education Administrators, and the Florida Consortium for International Education. Devika has an MA in International Studies from the University of Denver and a BA in Communication and Media Studies from the College of New Jersey.

Dan Murphy

Program Director of Yale Center Beijing, Yale University China

Dan brings over a decade's experience in strategic development and curation of programming with a focus in US-China relations. Previously, Dan worked at the National Committee on US-China Relations as the Director of Special Initiatives, with successful fundraising track record. Having studied and travelled extensively in China, Dan has been actively engaged in an extensive network of Asian academics, government officials and civil society leaders, as well as among Asia experts in the US. He holds a BA from Connecticut College, an MA in Chinese Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a graduate certificate from Johns Hopkins University – Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies. He writes and speaks Mandarin fluently.

Venkat Srinivasan

Education Segment Lead, Cognizant Technology Solutions.

Venkat's areas of interest and research include online higher education, student retention and technology solutions for higher education. He brings over 20 years’ experience in business strategy and operations in the education industry. His publications include several thought leadership articles and whitepapers to provide insights into the transformation of the education industry. Previously, Venkat was responsible for managing NIIT's enterprise business for the Higher Education and Publishing industry verticals in US and Europe where he was instrumental in conceptualizing, designing and developing the new student retention solution for educational institutions and introducing innovative technology products such as vLabs. He holds a BS from Bangalore University, India, and an MBA in Global Business from Georgia Tech.

Corina Villacorta

Regional Director for the Americas, Plan International

Corina Villacorta is an accomplished international development executive, with more than 30 years of experience in NGO leadership. Currently, she works at Plan International managing operations and programs in 12 countries. Corina worked with World Vision in New York as Executive Advisor for Child Rights. Her career in World Vision also included the responsibility of Regional Vice-President for Latin America and the Caribbean managing operations and programs in 14 countries and partnering with 4,000 communities. Corina holds a BA in social sciences and a license in social work from the National University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru. She also holds an MA in urban planning and international development, from the University of California at Los Angeles. A trained coach by Coaching Training Institute, she is fluent in English, Spanish and French and is proficient in Portuguese.
